To inculcate the feelings of selfless service and dignity of labour amongst students, two NSS units are successfully functioning in the college, under the guidance of Dr. Sunil Kumar Sharma and Mrs. Suruchi Sharma. NSS units of the college organised various activities in the session 2016-2017. On 1st August, 2016 “Beti Bachao Beti Parhao” campaign was organised. A signature chart was put up, on which more than 500 students put their signatures favouring the campaign. A workshop on “Cyber Crime” was held on the same day. From 9th August to 23rd August, 2016 “Yaad Karo Kurbani” celebrations were organised in the college to commemorate the sacrifices of freedom fighters. On 12th August, 2016 International Youth Day was celebrated, in which Poster Making and Slogan Writing competitions were held.
Van Mahotsav was organised by NSS volunteers on 19th August, 2016 in collaboration with Forest Department. 580 saplings were planted near Gurudwara Baba Bharbhag Singh and 100 saplings were planted near the college premises. On 20th August, 2016 “Sadbhavna Diwas” was celebrated and students also took a pledge to live in harmony. Tiranga March was organised on 22nd August, 2016, in which 1500 students of the college participated.
A seven day NSS camp for the session 2016-2017 was organised in the college premises from 23rd to 29th December, 2016. 100 volunteers attended the camp. Dr. Raman Sharma, Head of Physics Department, inaugurated the camp. In the NSS camp, NSS volunteers cleared the wild bushes and filled the pot holes near the college premises and at village Kotla Kherla also. NSS volunteers took out a number of rallies on “Cashless Economy”, “Clean India Green India”, “Beti Bachao Beti Parhao”. The volunteers were also addressed by eminent scholars/experts on various issues. Dr. R. K. Sandal, Associate Professor, Govt. College Daulatpur Chowk delivered a lecture on “Cashless Economy”. The students also went for “door to door” campaign and made the general public aware about the benefits of cashless transaction. Sh. Amit Sharma Dy. SP Haroli spoke on “Cyber Crime”. Sh. Ramesh Chaudhary made the students aware about RTI Act, 2005. Dr. Navneet Joshi, Medical officer, Amb delivered a lecture on HIV/Aids. Dr. Sunil Sharma Programme Officer delivered a lecture on “Tips for Clearing Entrance Examinations”.
Smt. Alka Sharma, Principal of the college was the Chief Guest on the closing ceremony of the NSS seven day special camp. A detailed report of the work done by NSS volunteers during the camp was presented to the Chief Guest by Mrs. Suruchi Sharma, NSS programme officer. The volunteers also gave cultural presentation. The Chief Guest honoured the scholars, who delivered lectures on various topics. The Chief Guest applauded the work of NSS volunteers. She inspired and motivated them to work for humanity at large. The function and the camp came to an end with the National Anthem.
